The Great Outdoors!

This past weekend Cameron took his first "real" camping trip to Tannehill State Park with Jason and I and Grandmommy and Grandaddy. Uncle Nathan and soon-to-be Aunt Cambre came by to make smores and hang out both nights too! Cameron loves nothing more than playing outside, so this was probably his ideal weekend.

We Hiked--Cameron rode on Daddy's back for the first part and then used his own hiking stick to walk the rest of the way.
(Jason with his GQ model pose)

He also took several rides on the back of Grandaddy's bike. We have a little bike trailer at home that he rides in where he doesn't have to wear a helmet so I was a little worried about how this was going to work. He refuses to wear anything on his head...however with a little singing distraction and some bribery with food he did pretty well. He fell asleep on the back on two different occassions. He was worn out each day!

We also stopped for some yummy cherry vanilla blue bell ice cream. He enjoyed eating his cone the opposite way bottom to the top.
Another first was this train ride. He loved it! We sat in the caboose and he smiled all the way!
We made smores! Yummy!

He even got to sit in his own little Bass Pro Shop chair we bought when he was a newborn.

And played on the playground. He LOVED the slide!
Having fun playing in the water at the Griss Mill.

We had such a fun weekend! Thanks Mom and Dad for making life easier on us yet again and having everything set up and ready for us!

One Year Check-Up and more

So I am WAY behind on this! Other things just always seem to come first over the blog. Anyways Cameron had his one year check up a couple of weeks ago and it was a toughy! Three shots and blood drawn from his arm. It was by far the worst as far as shots go. A little milk afterwards, an airhead and when we got home a popsicle seemed to help alot. He has never had any reactions from his shots which I am very thankful for!

12 months:
Weight: 21lbs 9.9oz (25th%)
Height: 30 1/2 inches (75th%)

Today I got my flu shot at CVS while Cameron sat in my lap eating a sucker. I think he liked it much better this way! :) To be honest I wish I could take all his shots for him!

Cameron has now tried eggs, stuff with peanut butter, and cows milk (still working on this one). The Dr. called today and said his iron was a little low--nothing to be concerned about but that we should try a multivitamin with iron (it's liquid and from what I've heard tastes really bad)...we will give it a try tomorrow and see how he likes or dislikes it! He is right on track growing strong and healthy. Praise God!

He now can drink from a straw!! Jason and I were just at Bass Pro Shops a couple of weekends ago noticing how this much younger baby was drinking from a straw...I let him try mine right then and he acted as if he had no idea. So four days later we go over to my Uncle Dale and Aunt Eloise's house and Uncle Dale said to give that "country boy" a juice box....sure enough right then and there he drank it up. I think he really enjoys his big boy straws now!

He is saying "mom" ALL the time now. It's so funny to here him walking around the house when he doesn't see me just saying "mom, mom, mom". We really have so much fun everyday together. He is a walking machine and has really mastered this over the last 2 months! I can't believe he has been walking for that long. I told Jason the other day I feel like things are much easier now. He can go where he wants to go and can actually play for a short amount of time on his own. We go on walks outside everyday--part of the time riding in the cozy coupe and the other part him walking on his own two feet.

He is such a little boy and loves to play outside no matter how hot it is. Sometimes we cheat and do bubbles inside too.

Peak-a-boo!

My Helper!

Now that Cameron is completely mobile on two feet he tends to get into things that he didn't before. He is just exploring our house and drawers, pantry, trash can, you get the point. For example:

This morning while I was getting ready in the bathroom he opened all my drawers and brought me each one of my bathing suits very proudly!

He also decided we needed to take ALL of his books off his bookshelf and rearrange them.

And the other day while he was napping I went through all my old coupons and threw out the expired ones. When he woke up he thought I should hang on to them a little longer and pulled them all out while I was in the kitchen.

He is a very big help these days! :)

Birthday Party continued...

Saturday we had a small little birthday party with family for Cameron. Jason finally had a great excuse to upgrade our grill and get rid of the one that we purchased with the house. We had such a great time celebrating with the people we love and whom we know will continue to help us shape and influence Cameron's life.

Round two of the birthday song went much better! He smiled the entire time and scanned the room looking at each person singing to him! What a memorable moment!

I made a giant cupcake for him. Chocolate on the bottom and strawberry on the top with homemade cream cheese icing dyed blue, with tiny colorful fish sprinkles on top.

I had bought this pan before I was even pregnant hoping to use it for our future baby's 1st birthday. I can't believe that day has already come and gone. Cameron did as I expected and started picking at all the sprinkles. He never completely smashed the cake but seemed to enjoy the icing the most. Daddy helped him get into it a little more.

He did however make a huge mess and went straight to the bathtub before he opened up all his gifts. He has been playing with all of his new toys and I think Jason and I are almost as excited as he is about new things to play with! :)

Jason did an excellent job on his Big Green Egg cooking our beef and chicken kabobs. He also grilled some sprimp. I have a feeling we are going to be grilling EVERYTHING from now on. He is just a little bit excited about his new toy.

I'm so proud and even more in love with my little guy than I was 12 months ago. Happy Birthday Big Guy!

Happy 1st Birthday!

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY CAMERON!

Today Cameron turned one year old! I really can't believe that a year has already gone by. Ever since August 4th, 2009 my life has changed in so many ways. It really is true that Cameron has filled a place in my heart that I never knew was missing before. I always knew that I wanted to be a mom, but he has given my life a whole new meaning and I am so grateful to God for this year that I have had with my sweet baby boy. He is my everything. I have the greatest job in the world! It's amazing to think that God formed every part of Cameron from his sweet little dimple on his left cheek to each tiny hair on his head. I never knew how much I could love someone.

I'm am also so thankful to Jason for working so hard so that I can spend my days with our son.

I don't have his official one year stats since his appointment isn't for another week and a half, but I'll get a rough estimate tomorrow on my own at home.

He is such a mama's boy right now. He is very attached (although I am to him too) :) He is still in bed with mama and daddy right in the middle. As a nursing mom it was just convenient at the beginning and our timeline for getting him to his bed has just been pushed back :) In fact he likes to eat just as much now as his did 12 months ago--I think part of it is a comfort thing when those teeth that are coming in are bothering him. He's cuttin two on the top right now.
If you look closely you can see the top two making their way in!

To be honest I love having him right there with us at night. Atleast his naps happen in his bed..right?

He is walking/running all over the place. He can even carry toys or his sippy cups as he roams around the house. There are still several falls a day, but he keeps improving. I've had to kiss more boo-boos than I'd like to count. On the go!

Today I let him run around naked, with just a diaper since he would rather not wear clothes. He had his favorite: strawberries for breakfast, with a few mandarain oranges..I even through in a couple goldfish--not a normal breakfast food in our house but was a special treat. I got the sweetest video (or thought I did--turns out I didn't hit the record button...ahhh!) this morning. I love my mornings waking up with him each day. I'm so frustrated it didn't record. I made some mickey mouse cupcakes for our little party tonight and Cameron got to taste test the icing to make sure it was ok for everybody else to eat.
What an exciting day!

He refuses to wear bibs or ANY type of hat so this is the best I could get with my few attempts!

Tonight we had a small celebration with my family over at my parents house since my sister, brother-in-law and niece and nephews are heading back to Michigan tomorrow. We will have another little party this Saturday with his big birthday cupcake :) He was not a very happy camper during the happy birthday song. Ok--things seems to be ok..and then..
a little bit worried..and then..
Meltdown! These people are not very good singers!
(This part didn't last very long--I think part of it was we just got done with dinner and he just didn't want to have to sit back down in his highchair.

Ok this icing does taste pretty good.

Then same as the first picture you can see it wasn't that bad:

I think he got a little overwhelmed. He also was very uninterested in opening his presents and went crawling/walking about while I sat on the floor and opened some with his cousins. Sidenote: Jason got a Big Green Egg this week (been talking about this one for awhile)..I think Cameron's cook-out this Saturday just sealed the deal in his head and gave him reason to go ahead and take the plunge. More pictures to come from the weekend :) Happy Birthday Cameron. I love you more than you will ever know.
I absolutely LOVE these kisses!

Here are the lyrics from one of the songs I am using for his first year slideshow. Made me cry the first time I listened to it while I held him. Sometimes I wish I could slow time down just a little.

"Let them be little"
I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand.
You felt so good in it; no bigger than a minute.
How it amazes me you're changin' with every blink.
Faster than a flower blooms, they grow up all too soon.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give 'em hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

I never felt so much in one little tender touch.
I live for those kisses, your prayers an' your wishes.
An' now you're teachin' me how only a child can see.
Tonight, while we're on our knees, all I ask is:

Please, let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

The so innocent, precious soul:
You turn around, an' it's time to let them go.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give 'em praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let them sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

Let them be little.
